Senator Jim Risch: Responding to a citizen email asking to exit and defund WHO and other globalist organizations that wish to take our national sovereignty and individual freedoms, Senator Risch stated:
”I share your concerns about the WHO and the proposal by some of its member states to draft a treaty that would be legally binding upon all member states. I’ve consistently and repeatedly warned the U.S. negotiators against entering into any sort of international agreement that would be legally binding upon the United States, absent approval by the United States Senate. While the U.S. Congress cannot compel the U.S. President – or any other head of state – to vote against an international agreement among member states of the WHO, Congress can deny the President the funds needed to implement such an agreement. This is why I introduced S.Res.81, which requires Senate advice and consent for any international agreement related to pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.”Senator Jim Risch: Responding to a citizen email asking to close the Southern border and defund support for illegal immigrants, Senator Risch was less decisive, stating:
”There is no doubt that our country faces a crisis on our southern border. Since the end of Title 42, we have continued to see record numbers of illegal immigrants crossing our border, which strains our social, legal, health care, and law enforcement services. The United States is a nation of laws focused on protecting our people. Those who wish to immigrate here must do so legally and we welcome them.The Biden administration rolled back numerous Trump administration policies that effectively mitigated problems at the southern border. In order to prevent this national security and public health disaster from getting any worse, I introduced the Solving the Border Crisis Act. This bill would reinstate Title 42, immediately resume border wall construction, and codify the "Remain in Mexico" program. Congress and the Biden administration must take immediate action to restore order and secure the southern border.
After the border is secure, we need to reform-not overhaul-our current immigration laws. Congress has a lot to do to find solutions to labor shortages in the agricultural and technology sectors while at the same time addressing the immigration issue.”
